My latest works continue the line of exploring abstract forms with photo based media and analogue works. As with other works, these compositions use lines to create drama and conflict in the composition. For me, every line is a character that acts in a composition. Abstraction here is not about form or an aesthetic view primarily, but a means to carry an implied function. In Field test, form gives way to the utility of lines electrifying the scene to cause a reaction, in colour or in the subject matter – an unknown incident has happened. I tend to experiment with abstract elements like I’m conducting lab tests with visual forms. Works prior to these, in web2, have always used unusual materials like lead, coal, wax, copper wire, batteries or metal leaf.
