For each #DAMswap, we reach out to various organizations, collectives, as well as individual artists in space. 

Work made for #DAMswap is curated and compiled into an Issue of DAM, then distributed for free, which then serves as an archive of the event, and more importantly, as a directory for Artists.

A window that no longer exists. What caught my attention were the plants growing from it. It was full of them. I decided to take a photo before it got completely dark, but a vehicle passed in front of me, and this was the result of that moment. Like waves in the air crossing through my photo.

My latest works continue the line of exploring abstract forms with photo based media and analogue works. As with other works, these compositions use lines to create drama and conflict in the composition. For me, every line is a character that acts in a composition. Abstraction here is not about form or an aesthetic view primarily, but a means to carry an implied function. In Field test, form gives way to the utility of lines electrifying the scene to cause a reaction, in colour or in the subject matter – an unknown incident has happened.  I tend to experiment with abstract elements like I’m conducting lab tests with visual forms. Works prior to these, in web2, have always used unusual materials like lead, coal, wax, copper wire, batteries or metal leaf. I have always seen these materials, light and colour as representative conductors of energy.

As kids of the 80s, we'd save up our hard-earned quarters. With eager anticipation, we'd stride into the dimly lit arcade with friends in tow. The satisfying clink of coins dropping into the slot was music to our ears. With hearts racing, we'd slam the one-player button and instantly transport ourselves into another world of pixelated adventures. This was a common scene from my childhood. 

Ready to Play

Fingers poised on the joystick, we'd navigate Ms. Pac-Man through the labyrinth, pursuing those elusive pellets - while dodging ghosts at every turn. With friends gathered around, we dove head-first into the game. It reminds me of those carefree days when the arcade was our refuge, and Ms. Pac-Man our trusty guide through a maze of youthful delight.

Cyanotype prints use a chemical reaction when exposed to sunlight to create abstract representations of natural shapes. The process involves coating a surface with a photosensitive solution, exposing it to the sun for around 2 hours, and washing the print to reveal the final image. This is an unwashed print. Eco-printing can further enhance the effect by adding liquid rust to the cyanotype coat, producing unique and earthy colour.

Shrines are common architectural structures in many European countries. They contain statues or images of Saints, Virgin Mary and Christ. They indicate sacred places as well as burial sites.
In medicine, there is an old expression that says “the abdomen is the doctor's grave”. Indeed, before modern diagnostic tools, abdominal pain (one of the most common symptoms inducing people to seek attention) was very difficult to be managed. Interestingly, the abdominal cavity, with its walls made of muscles, resembles a small shrine, which contains some of the most important organs of our body, such as the kidneys and the liver.
This work, the fourth of “living cities” series, signifies the sacredness of our body and the importance of our inner part.

We may taste its sweetness in our dreams, but it is fleeting and soon fades. We wake up to reality, where our dreams are just an illusion.

This work is a reflection on the nature of dreams and how they are often a source of both joy and sorrow. It is a reminder that we should not let our dreams consume us, but instead use them as inspiration to create a better reality.

The spaces in our heads are like a blank canvas, a place where we can create anything we imagine. But too often we let our egos get in the way, we fill these spaces with negative thoughts and emotions.

This work is a call to action. To let go of our egos and embrace our dreams. To use our imaginations to create a world that is full of beauty, grandeur, and peace.

The glistening silver ball, frozen in mid-flight, captures the essence of those days when we flocked to arcades to escape reality.
